The Guttenberg Police Department Home
Located in the historic Mississippi River town of Guttenberg, Iowa. The Guttenberg Police Department has 24 hour Police protection. Not only do we service the 2500 people in the City of Guttenberg but the surrounding rural area in Clayton County. The department is comprised of four officers, reserve officers, and one full-time Administrative Assistant/Police dispatcher. The Police Department is well diversified, with a Bike Patrol, and a School Resource Officer.
In addition to the duties the officers handle on a daily basis, each officer is responsible for proactive involvement with the community. This philosophy of community oriented policing helps build strong ties between local law enforcement and the many buisnesses within Guttenberg. Some of the programs the department does during the year is child fingerprinting, providing free gun locks to the community, Christmas Adopt a Family Program, K-9 demonstrations, Sexual Assault Seminars and Self Defense Training, vehicle inspections, and a bicycle rodeo.
Many officers are also part of theTri-River Task Force which will serve high risk search warrants and high risk arrest warrants, drug arrests, and have acted as diplomatic security for President George W. Bush's visit to Prairie Du Chien, Wis., during the 2004 election campaign.
